New cultivar and spring bulb ideas from the Philadelphia Flower show

Much as I love to hate the show, I always come away with a few plants and bulbs I HAVE to have this year.

These irises were adorable, a great color combination

I also liked this combination of narcissi, pieris japonica and golden chamaecyparis

and thought I might add this leucothoe to the garden this year -- it's a native I've always wanted to use more but think it usually looks rather scraggly and unkempt.  This cultivar had an unusually dark foliage

It would look great underplanted with spring bulbs -- some others I want to try are Narcissus Rip Van Winkle

maybe in a combination with the interesting white Narcissus 'Ariel'

In the last few years I've been planting masses of white and blue spring bulbs and still love this combination

I also found some tulip cultivars I didn't know and would like to add to my tulip list in the fall

and a delightful miniature fotheringilla I'd love to plant -- if it stays as tiny as it was in the display.
